BIS certification mandatory for manufacturers and importers of specified animal feed and animal feed ingredients from 2027

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying has notified The Animal Feeds and Feed Ingredients (Quality Control) Order, 2026 on October 7, 2026. The manufacturers and importers of common salt and cattle licks for animal consumption, mineral mixtures for supplementing and Dicalcium Phosphate will have to obtain BIS registration under compulsory registration scheme before manufacturing and importing in India. General implementation (other than micro and small enterprises) begins on 1 April 2027, with phased deadlines for small enterprises from1 July 2027 and micro enterprises from 1 October 2027.
