Delhi High court seeks Food Safety Authority’s response on non-dairy products sold as paneer

The Delhi High Court has reportedly sought responses within six weeks from food safety authorities on a petition seeking action against non-dairy substitutes sold or served as paneer without adequate disclosure. The issue highlights potential gaps in food labelling compliance, consumer awareness and enforcement of prescribed product standards. If stricter action follows, it could lead to enhanced inspections, product sampling and greater scrutiny of restaurants and food businesses, reinforcing the need for transparent disclosure of dairy substitutes.
