DTAB considers exemption for imported first-aid kits used for captive consumption

The Drugs Technical Advisory Board (DTAB) considered a proposal to exempt imported first-aid kits for captive consumption by industries including automobile and hospitality sectors from import and sale licensing requirements under the Medical Devices Rules, 2017. The proposal contemplates exemption from import licensing requirements under Chapter V and sale licensing under Chapter XI, subject to conditions including a minimum residual shelf life of 60% and compliance with applicable standards. The kits would also be restricted from resale.
