Exemption from sale licensing proposed for glucometers, BP monitors, pregnancy kits, and self test medical devices

The Drugs Technical Advisory Board (DTAB) has recommended amending the Eighth Schedule of the Medical Devices Rules, 2017 to grant sale exemptions for specific medical devices. The proposed change covers medicated dressings in first-aid kits, self-test devices such as glucometers, pulse oximeters, and pregnancy kits, and small device quantities brought for trade exhibition displays.
