Parliamentary panel recommends greater licensing powers for state authorities

A Parliamentary Standing Committee has reportedly recommended decentralising licensing of Class A and B medical devices to State Licensing Authorities (SLAs), with greater autonomy based on quality assessments by QCI-approved notified laboratories. The move aims to strengthen state-level regulation, attract global manufacturers, expand testing infrastructure and improve access to safe medical devices.
