Food-safety inspections in Madhya Pradesh to be triggered by food-app data and customer ratings

Madhya Pradesh’s Food and Drug Administration (MP FDA) is using food-delivery platform data, customer ratings and order activity to identify high-footfall restaurants and hotels for priority inspections. FSSAI’s inspection framework does not identify customer ratings, online popularity or order volumes as food-safety risk parameters. The concern is whether the MP FDA can treat commercial visibility indicators, such as customer ratings and order volumes, as a basis for prioritising food-safety inspections.
