Medical device industry reportedly seeks caps on trade markups

After India's drug price regulator capped markups on cancer medicines, news show that an Indian medical device industry body has sought a similar cap for medical devices. Earlier caps on prices left importers' margins out, so imported devices could carry a much higher retail price than Indian-made ones. The body pushed for making import the first point of sale, providing parity between Indian and foreign manufacturers. To this effect, the body has said that it is ready to work with the Government authorities.
