Ride-hailing apps cannot pressure riders to pay more through booking prompts

The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has found a ride hailing app in it’s booking interface was using prompts which encouraged users to increase payments to have a better chance of the ride getting confirmed. CCPA has flagged this practice as dark pattern and has directed discontinuation of such prompts and practices, following a sector-wide examination of advance tipping and dynamic pricing.
