US drug industry body sues to block rule tying medicine prices to overseas prices

The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), a US drug industry body has sued to cancel a government rule making drugmakers pay rebates on some medicines priced higher in America than abroad. The legal challenge here is whether the government can tie medicine prices to overseas prices, using a pilot program, without new legislation bypassing the US Congress. The rule takes effect starting January 2027.
