DCC recommends cough syrups to include red colored warning against use in children below four years

The Drugs Consultative Committee of India (DCC) has agreed that cough syrups should have warning labels against use in children below the age of four years, indicated in red. The Committee found that cough syrups are still given to young children despite an advisory, and opined that the pictures of infants, toddlers and similar suggestive depictions should not appear on labels. Cough syrup manufacturing businesses should monitor the enforcement of this recommendation to adhere to timely compliance.
