Surrogacy eligibility age limit challenged before Bombay High Court

The Bombay High Court has sought responses from the Centre and Maharashtra authorities on a challenge to the 50-year upper age limit for intending mothers under the surrogacy framework. The petition was filed after a 54-year-old woman was denied an eligibility and essentiality certificate for surrogacy following unsuccessful IVF and embryo-transfer attempts.
